So 2011 is here and the snow has finally fucked off! Did everyone have a nice Christmas? Did you all go see Tron? How good was Tron eh?
Anyway, it’s back to business as usual for Penguins. It’s safe to say that we’ve gained a lot of holiday weight and were sharing the mass of a small planet just after New Year. We pretty much looked like The Pixies on their comeback tour.
First of all, thank you to everyone who came down and watched us at King Tuts a couple of weeks ago. Was a great way to start the year by seeing so many friendly faces there. It should be noted that Carnivores are a tough act to follow and we severely underestimated them in this loudness war; lesson learned! We shed all of our aforementioned holiday weight trying to get the better of them. This aint over! Also, to the dude who was looking for a large PKPB t-shirt, I haven’t forgotten about ye big man! More t-shirts are on their way and I’ll be emailing you!
On Friday night there, David Tan of Your Neighbour the Liar fame turned 22 and invited us to come and play a mini gig in his bedroom… just like Chad Hogan! Chad (David) made us some bitchin’ chilli and in return we stole his microwave and unleashed the fury to some invited guests in his sweaty bedroom. To show their appreciation, they showered us in Jagerbomb’s – good times. Video here -

Work has begun on new material which we hope will go towards making our debut album later in the year. Can’t give too much away at the moment but this week’s influences have included Gary: Tank Commander, Rum, Kanye West’s twitter rants, Whiskey, Episode IV: A New Hope, A whole host of good shit that Gav’s downloaded ahead of release date, Andy Gray and Your Neighbour The Liar…. watch this space.
LOL (that’s “lots of love” the way your mum thinks LOL is meant to be)
Fraser.
Hey all!
This is the first of a monthly mail out from Penguins Kill Polar Bears. We’ll be bringing you all the news from the month that’s been and what’s coming up.
Previews, reviews, photos, videos, downloads, gig dates, discount tickets and lots more.
Firstly, snow… You are a bastard!
2010 has been a really good year for us we’ve done alot! We took on Murray Reid aka Manky Bastard as manager in April, since then we released our first EP ‘Dawn’ in June, toured Scotland, had a couple of ‘London mini tours’, kidnapped a Finnish girl, played some brilliant gigs supporting The Xcerts, The Twilight Sad, ASIWYFA, and Tubelord to name a few. We took on Fraser Sanaghan from Lions.Chase.Tigers to replace John who left in August. So over all things have gone great in 2010 and we’re currently writing and recording for’Vessels & Veins’ EP release in February 2011.
We’re going to be bringing 2010 to a close in Edinburgh on Saturday 11th of December at Electric Circus.
Shutter and I Build Collapsible Mountains are support. Hopefully we will see some familiar faces to see out the year in style it’s only a £3 ticket!

In the mean time we thank every single person who has helped us along the way, if you’ve put a gig on with us, offered us great support slots, put us up on your floor,
bought a cd or tshirt, came to a gig, spoke to us, told your friends about us. We really really really appreciate all your support.
